In the US alone, according to this report from Fleet Owner, trucking crime is worth $15-30bn, and as trucking operators and shippers have become more sophisticated in their response to the threat of crime – especially shippers of high-value goods – criminals have begun to switch their focus and are increasingly targeting lower-value and less-protected goods such as food and beverages… “there are no serial numbers on pistachios, for example.  There is no RFID tag attached to them or hidden in their packaging.”
