JOC has an interesting story on China’s attempts to cut shipping line “non-appropriate” surcharges. The country claims they hurt exporters, which are already suffering. Eleven carriers have agreed to reduce some surcharges. The government is looking to reduce other logistics costs, such as port and terminal charges and security fees in a bid to become more competitive.
