DHL Express has appointed Markus Reckling as its new chief executive for Germany, replacing Wolfgang Albeck, who announced his retirement following a 20-year career with the group.
Mr Reckling began his logistics career more than 20 years ago, working for several German companies before joining Deutsche Post.
In more than a decade with the company, he has held several positions in China, Germany and Turkey. Last May he joined Turkish cargo, express and logistics association Karid as a board member, returning to Germany to replace Mr Albeck.
DHL Express Europe chief executive John Pearson described Mr Reckling as someone with demonstrated passion, versatility and commitment.
“He oversaw a period of sustained growth and strengthened market leadership in Turkey, in which DHL Express received external recognition as an employer and provider of choice. His experience, business acumen and customer focus will be a great asset to our time-definite business in Germany.”
