The European Commission is expected to get the green light next week from EU member states to begin negotiations with the UAE and Qatar on “comprehensive aviation agreements that will also cover alleged subsidies given to their airlines”, according to EurActive. However, given the events of recent weeks, it is expected that security will head the list of topics. The EC is also expected to begin negotiations with a host of other countries – China, Mexico and Turkey, as well as South-east Asia’s economic ASEAN bloc.
