And it is in talks with countries including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Russia to help build an improved freight rail network.
Cargo transport in Iran has risen 10% this year, and although imports were down, rail exports rose 60%. Iran Railways is introducing several measures to increase volumes, including raising the speed limit for freight trains, and offering discount prices, of up to 40%, to cargo owners.
