K Line has announced that the Millau Bridge, the first of five 14,000 teu vessels ordered in 2013, has been delivered today at the Imabari Shipbuilding Hiroshima Shipyard.

The vessel will be deployed on the Asia-Europe service (NE2) under the CKYHE Alliance. The NE2 service will be upsized following the delivery of K Line’s remaining four vessels along with its partners’ similar-sized vessels.

K Line has already placed an order for five more 14,000 teu vessels from Imabari, which are due to be delivered in 2018, boosting its ULCV (ultra-large container vessel) fleet, with the latest energy-saving technologies, to 10.

The line said: “These 10 vessels will be the flagships of our containership business with which we shall continue to deliver a service of high quality to our valued customers.”
