The governments of the US and Mexico have signed an air services agreement which will allow both passenger and cargo airlines to fly between any US city and any Mexican city without restriction. The deal eliminates rules which had specified the number of carriers able to operate – now any US or Mexican carrier can operate on routes between the countries. The statement notes that cargo carriers in particular will benefit, as it appears they will be able to take freight from either country to a third country.
