Malaysia Airlines could be one to contend with after its rebirth. New chief executive Christoph Mueller said he would run the carrier like a start-up. Some 8,000 jobs are expected be cut from the list of staff, of which there are currently 20,000, and the fleet is likely to be drastically reduced. Planes are already up for sale, including its A380 aircraft. The carrier will relaunch, with a new name, on 1 September. “This is not a continuation of the old company in a new disguise; everything is new,” Mr Mueller said.
