Just for a change, how about a story from the US that isn’t directly connected to the congestion on the west coast? Well, if you wanted an indication of just how robust the country’s economy appears at the moment, look no further than the travails of carmakers in an environment of surging demand, particularly for SUVs, and their urgent need for more intermodal freight capacity to serve domestic markets. Currently some 250,000 finished vehicles are waiting for available rail capacity to be transported to end markets from plants in US.
