It’s like something out of James Bond. Marine engine manufacturer Roll-Royce has been developing the concept of drone ships, which it has termed the “oX operator experience concept” for the past few years, and this week unveiled its concept of the centres from which they would be controlled. An accompanying films shows “a small crew of 7 to 14 people monitor and control the operation of a fleet of vessels across the world using interactive smart screens, voice recognition systems, holograms and surveillance drones”.
