In the US, for example, some 60m workers will retire by 2025, with just 40m to replace them, placing further pressure on businesses already trying to deal with rapid technological developments and increasing global complexity. Against that background, training staff and addressing the “skills gap” can be forgotten, but it shouldn’t be: “Make the supply chain both a fun and rewarding place to work and support efforts for more attractive compensation and reward programmes that emphasise talent and skills development.”
