The recent news that Amazon has filed a suit against Target and ex-Amazon executive Arthur Valdez, whom it hired to transform its supply chain, is the latest in a series of court cases between companies fighting over a dwindling gene-pool of logistics talent. Finding, hiring and retaining the best people is becoming increasingly difficult, as the story of Arthur Valdez demonstrates. According to this report in the Wall St Journal, he was already earning over $1m a year at Amazon, a company where he had worked for 16 years.
