Analysis of the impending truck driver shortage crisis in the US, where the numbers being quoted are on a typically magnified scale. The America Trucking Association estimates that the industry is currently understaffed by 30,000, and warns this catapult up to 230,000 in the next five to seven years. But solving it is no easy issue – higher wages are necessary, as are better working conditions, and also a mindset change on the part of employers, with few potential drivers under the age of 25 offered jobs.
