The UAE has banned its carriers from flying to Baghdad after a flydubai aircraft was apparently shot at on approach. Emirates and Etihad have suspended all flights to comply with the General Civil Aviation Authority ban. The flydubai 737-800 was found to have damage on its fuselage after it landed, which was “consistent with small arms fire”. The authorities are trying to ascertain whether the aircraft was deliberately targeted, or randomly fired upon as part of a wedding celebration.
