A slightly alarming comment piece about the Chinese counterfeit market. Ranging from high-tech to food, this blog claims that fake products are rife in the west – including an amino acid used in bread production which is made of human hair. The article doesn’t mention counterfeit batteries – a dangerous import – but notes that China as well as the EU and US are trying to clampdown on illegal goods. EU Customs, for example, seized €1bn worth of goods in 2012, said to be a fraction of the total market, however.
