The Bali package appears to be on its deathbed. World Trade Organisation measures were set to do away with a whole raft of customs procedures that generally appear to inhibit trade. Agility Logistics CEO Tarek Sultan believes the failure to ratify the proposals has effectively cost the global economy $1trn.

“There simply are too many obstacles to the flow of goods across borders – and they benefit no one. If you remove obvious barriers and take basic steps to improve efficiency in the trading system, you create growth, jobs and prosperity,” he said.
