After spending the last year or so explaining to investors why it had decided to become an asset owner and operator after its acquisitions of Norbert Dentressangle and Con-way, XPO Logistics now appears to have made a 180-degree turn with the sale of Con-way’s trucking unit to Canada’s largest haulage company, Transforce. For its part, the Canadian firm appears on the brink of a relishing a long-cherished dream of breaking into the US market. XPO has said it will use the proceeds to pay down its debt pile.
