Panalpina has appointed Christian Wurst as its new chief executive for European operations.
Mr Wurst joins the group from Ceva Logistics, where he was managing director of operations in Germany.
Panalpina said Mr Wurst would take up his new post in February. CEO Stefan Karlen added: “Christian Wurst is a distinguished industry expert and strong leader. He will strengthen our executive committee and help us reach our ambitious growth targets for 2020.”
Mr Wurst began his logistics career in 1997 as a project manager at DB Schenker, before moving to its metals and mining unit as deputy head at the turn of the century. In 2006, hebecame chief financial officer and deputy MD of the company’s Russian operations before moving to Wincanton in 2007.
During a five-year stint, he served as Wincanton’s managing director for Germany and central Europe.
After a year outside the logistics sector – spending 2012 as CEO of RWUTV Group – Mr Wurst returned to the industry in 2013 when he joined Ceva.
