The passenger carriers may be rushing into Cuba – but FedEx has suddenly got cold feet. After its initial request for traffic rights to Havana, it has now amended its application. It has asked to fly five times a week between Miami and Veradero, instead of Havana, and will use a Cessna 208 instead of a 757F, which it had originally applied for. It cited “current Cuba marketplace conditions” and “the complexities of setting up operations in Cuba with ground and customs clearance capabilities”. Rival UPS, meanwhile, has yet to submit an application.
