While Heathrow’s cargo department is doing all it can to improve processes – albeit with little investment – the airport as a whole is facing yet another delay to the decision on expansion, owing to the UK’s political vacuum (or possibly simply vacuity among politicians.) The recent general election had the unfortunate effect of closing the inquiry into expansion, which now must be reopened. However, the committee cannot now report to parliament until the first half of next year, some three years after the Airport Commission first reported its findings, and six years after the government started this latest round of deliberations. It’s almost as if the politicians don’t know what they are doing…
