John Lloyd, the amiable and well-respected chief of Virgin Atlantic Cargo, is to step down in September after 30 years at the airline to take up a new challenge.
The airline said in a statement: “We will certainly be sad to see John go. One of the many contributions he has made is to build a strong team with an amazing reputation for customer service and incredibly strong customer relationships, driven by an honest and straightforward style, which our customers trust and find easy to do business with.
“We would like to thank John for his tremendous contributions and accomplishments over the 30 years he has been with us, and we wish him all the best in the future.”
Other UK airline industry executives told The Loadstar they were “very sad” to see him go, but hoped he would stay in the industry.
Under Mr Lloyd’s leadership, Virgin Atlantic has won 28 industry awards, including Cargo Airline of the Year no less than 15 times. The carrier has become renowned for its customer service and attention to detail.
