Marie Gay-de Tailly to lead new HR initiative at ID Logistics
French contract logistics specialist ID Logistics has appointed Marie Gay-de Tailly as group executive vice-president ...
Maersk Line veteran Omar Shamsie has been named the new president of the company in North America from 1 December.
His most recent position was president of Maersk Line Latin America & the Caribbean and, before that, president of Maersk Line Canada.
His predecessor, Michael White, stepped down in October to take on the newly created role as head of global trade digitisation for AP Møller-Maersk Transport & Logistics.
Chief among Mr Shamsie’s tasks will be working on the integration of the group’s transport and logistics company and, on the container shipping side, his “focus will be in accelerating the digital transformation and new innovative technology that can reduce customers’ freight management complexity and add greater efficiency to improve the customer experience”.
Mr Shamsie said: “I joined Maersk 28 years ago because I wanted to be part of a company that enables global opportunities through trade while making the world more connected and accessible for all.
“I’m honoured and excited to take on this new position in a region that contributes to almost one-third of global trade, with a robust key client portfolio and limitless trade opportunities. My top priority will remain with our customers, as we help them grow their businesses while improving their overall end-to-end experience.
We will do this by leveraging technology and innovation, providing excellence in our customer service, and delivering reliable and consistent products to our customers.”
