Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak saudia

Sadia Cargo has appointed Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak as its chief ground handling officer.

He takes over from Chris Notter, who was given the job on an interim basis some 14 months ago. Mr Notter will now return to being responsible for the network, four hubs, quality, safety, security and environment.

It is thought that Saudia wanted to appoint a Saudi national to the role, in advance of its IPO.

One source said: “He’s a great fellow, a good lad. He’ll be great.”

Mr Al-Mubarak takes over the role in mid-November, after a handover period. He has a decade of experience in commercial, cargo and logistics, planning and strategic management.

Before joining Saudia Cargo, Mr Al-Mubarak was general manager, traffic and logistics development at Dammam Airports Company. He has also been a National Logistics Hub committee member for the ministry of transport, and general manager cargo and logistics at Saudi’s General Authority of Civil Aviation.

The carrier said: “This appointment comes as part of Saudia Cargo’s recognition of the important role its ground handling business unit has in achieving its Strategy 2020 transformation programme. It reflects the company’s ongoing investments into its facilities projects, its cargo terminals and people.”
