Alibaba has big ideas. Founder Jack Ma wants to start a global e-commerce platform – together with other companies, including rival Amazon. He hopes a common platform, which would be supported by governments, will knock down trade barriers and help connect smaller enterprises. Mr Ma is planning to hold talks with a few countries at the G20 and B20 summit in Hangzhou next month, to see what appetite there is, if any. But he is calling on other companies to lead the charge too.
