Lufthansa Cargo faces yet another strike after the Cockpit union announced it would ground the entire fleet tomorrow – although Lufthansa disputes this. The carrier told The Loadstar: “The walkout will hit short-haul, medium-haul and long-haul passenger flights. However, a total of 2,124 of approximately 3,000 daily flights of the Lufthansa group will take place.
“Lufthansa will publish an updated flight schedule on www.LH.com. Lufthansa Cargo freighter flights will operate as scheduled. Flights operated by Austrian Airlines or by Eurowings will not be affected.”
Pilots are seeking a 20% increase in salary, retrospectively for the past five years. The union anticipates that every flight leaving Germany tomorrow will be affected.
In a further blow to the group, the Verdi union has called for a strike at Eurowings today.
A Lufthansa Cargo spokesman added: “We deeply regret any inconvenience the pilots’ union strike may cause. Lufthansa Cargo staff worldwide will do their utmost to keep the potential inconvenience to customers at a minimum.
“Customers may find updates at www.lufthansa-cargo.com as well as information on the status of their booked shipments in our eTracking-System: http://lufthansa-cargo.com/eservices/etracking“.
