It must have been hugely frustrating for Virgin Atlantic – but there is some amusement to be had at this story. The carrier’s brand new A330-300, Beauty Queen, was welcomed in the traditional way on landing in the UK. Sort of, anyway. Instead of the water cannon salute, a hapless member of airport staff instead sprayed it with fire-suppressing foam. Which of course found its way into the engines and turbines, which then had to be checked thoroughly – causing an overnight delay.
